Eligibility
Applicants who hold Japanese nationality, had to study overseas due to unavoidable circumstances such as parents' residing abroad, and who meet one of the following conditions are eligible:
- Applicants who have completed or are expected to complete a 12-year regular education curriculum abroad (including schooling in the regular curriculum in Japan) in the period between April 1, 2023 and March 31, 2025. Those applicants must have completed or be expected to complete at least 2 years consecutively in a foreign country including the last school year.
- Applicants who have studied overseas for 6 years or more in total or 4 years or more consecutively, and transferred into the 2nd or 3rd year of Japanese high school after returning to Japan, and are expected to graduate from high school by March 31, 2025.
- Applicants who have received an International Baccalaureate degree outside of Japan in 2023 or 2024, and who will turn 18 by March 31, 2025.
- Applicants who will complete the curriculum of an educational institution abroad that has been designated or accredited as being equivalent to a high school curriculum by the Japanese Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology by March 31, 2025.
